The White Rock & South Surrey Community Advisory Committee for Mental Health and Substance Use.
Purpose and Role
- Providing the Manager responsible for Mental Health & Substance Use (MH&SU) in this community with information, advice, recommendations and feedback related to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health services and policies affecting the lives of consumers and their families.
- Providing feedback to the MH&SU manager concerning issues and needs of consumers and families.
Identifying gaps in the MH&SU service delivery area.
- Providing public education, community acceptance and understanding of persons with psychiatric disabilities and mental health issues.
- Providing a forum to communicate and discuss current issues.
The Community Advisory Committee is made up of persons with lived experience of mental health issues, family members, local service providers and the MH&SU manager.

There are currently many service providers in the White Rock & South Surrey community, many of which are listed in the directory on the 'Documents' page of this site. The Fraser Health White Rock/South Surrey adult Mental Health and Substance Use Center is located adjacent to Peace Arch Hospital in the Russell unit. Peace Arch Hospital is also the home of the Early Psychosis Intervention Program and the Geriatric Psychiatry Program. See the 'Links' page on this site for more information.
